Sphynx Overview

The sphynx is a breed of cat that originated in the 1960s. Sphynx cats are not fat, but they can be stocky and muscular in appearance. The sphynx cat has water-resistant skin that feels like soft leather.

Sphynxes are hairless, but they still produce oil on their skin like other cats to prevent them from drying out and protect themselves against harmful bacteria. Sphynx owners have to take extra care with cleaning their pets because, without fur, dirt and hair can get trapped deeper into the skin and cause infections.
